(New York, New York – September 23, 2020) REFASHIOND Ventures, a New York based early-stage supply chain technology venture firm created to invest in startups that are refashioning global supply chains, today announced that its co-founder, Lisa Morales-Hellebo was the recipient of Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s (S&DCE) premier, new industry recognition.

S&DCE, a leading industry trade magazine covering the entire global supply chain, celebrated its 20th anniversary by premiering a first-ever awards recognition to honor female supply chain leaders and executives whose accomplishments, leadership, mentorship, and overall excellence “set the bar” for women at all levels of a company’s supply chain network.  “We are incredibly proud of Lisa and her achievements,” said Brian Aoaeh, co-founder of REFASHIOND Ventures. “Lisa champions diversity and collaboration across all areas of supply chain. She works tirelessly to give startups in fashion, logistics, supply chain optimization, and more - a voice to share their new ventures, and potentially match them with investors or strategic customers,” he said.

“I am humbled and so appreciative of the opportunity to be included in this amazing group of women,” said Lisa Morales-Hellebo. “I feel a deep obligation to do my part to encourage women of all ages and backgrounds to join us in one of the largest sector-driven opportunities of our lifetime — the refashioning of global supply chains,” she added.

S&DCE created this recognition program to spotlight the achievements of inspirational leaders in an industry that needs more females – especially in the boardroom. According to Gartner’s 2020 Women in Supply Chain Survey, 17% of chief supply chain officers are now women, especially in consumer and retail industries. This represents a 6% increase from 2019.

Gartner’s research from 2019 found that women accounted for 28% of supply-chain vice presidents or senior directors. In 2020 this dropped to 21% - pointing to the need for more female talent in the pipeline who can move into top roles.

“I’m encouraged by the number of women who represent a powerful voice -- especially  in climate change initiatives,” said Ms. Morales-Hellebo. “Supply chains are one of the root causes of today’s climate crises.  Recognitions like this one from S&DCE help to shine a light on those women who are leading the tough discussions and championing solutions,” she added.

In addition to REFASHIOND Ventures, Ms. Morales-Hellebo and Mr. Aoaeh created The Worldwide Supply Chain Federation, an organization dedicated to driving awareness of innovations impacting supply chains.
